WASHINGTON, Oct 9 – PRIME A US Navy reconnaissance aircraft was over the site of damage to the Nord Stream gas pipelines shortly after the emergency as part of a planned flight, the US Naval Forces Europe and Africa Command explained.

Earlier, the media wrote that a US Navy reconnaissance aircraft flew near the site of the attacks on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline a few hours after the incident. The P-8A Poseidon, which took off from Iceland, was said to have been over the North Sea when seismologists detected an explosion on the pipeline, before which it made two normal circles over Poland, and then headed towards the pipeline area in the Baltic Sea. The device at different times approached the accident site at 24 and 4 kilometers.

“The US Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft shown in the tracking data was on a routine maritime reconnaissance flight in the Baltic Sea, not related to leaks from the Nord Stream pipelines,” the Navy’s Euro-Africa Command told RIA Novosti.

They noted that aircraft from the US Sixth Fleet often fly from allied bases to improve efficiency and compatibility.

The attacks took place on September 26 at once on two Russian export gas pipelines to Europe – Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Germany, Denmark and Sweden do not rule out targeted sabotage. The Nord Stream operator Nord Stream AG reported that the state of emergency on gas pipelines was unprecedented and it was impossible to estimate the timing of repairs.
