The Radeon HD 7990 can be equipped with four 6-pin connectors

Already in December last year, AMD started talking about a new graphics card in generation 28 nanometers with dual processors, but the model that goes by the code name New Zealand still shines with its absence. However, new information is emerging about what will probably be called the Radeon HD 7990, usually about delays but now also about some of the news in the new monster model.

According to Chinese VR-Zone, the Radeon HD 7990 is based on two “Tahiti XT” graphics processors of the previous version, ie not XT2 or “Gigahertz Edition”. The graphics card is equipped with a full 6 GB of GDDR5 memory in 6.0 GHz and has no less than six video outputs: four Mini Displayport and two DVI, including support for Eyefinity and stereoscopic 3D via AMD HD3D.

To power this creation, AMD uses a slightly odd configuration of power connectors, more specifically four 6-pin PCI Express. According to the source, this is because the graphics processors, memory modules and PCI Express controller are each assigned a connector and do not share the power supply like other models. This allows a total socket of 375 W.

Finally, the source states that the Radeon HD 7990 may appear in August at the earliest and that the model will be cheaper than the competing Geforce GTX 690, which certainly does not give any further indication of the price picture given that the latter costs up to SEK 9,000 including VAT.
