“We expect that the implementation of such a measure will not only reduce revenues (for Russia) … from the sale of oil, but also reduce global prices,” Jean-Pierre said during a regular briefing.

She expressed confidence that the introduction of a ceiling on Russian oil prices would be an “extremely effective” way to limit Moscow’s income from energy exports.

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, the West stepped up sanctions pressure on Russia, which led to an increase in prices for electricity, fuel and food in Europe and the United States.
