The Governor of the state of Colorado, in the United States, Jared Polis, revealed that from next winter (Summer in the United States), state taxes can be paid with cryptocurrencies. He also hopes that in the future other payments to the government such as the cost of the license can be paid with cryptocurrencies, although there is no date for this yet.
While the government will receive cryptocurrencies in the form of payment, they do not plan to store them, instead they will convert them to dollars. This is what Polis added about it:
It is important for people to know that from a state perspective, we cannot be in the business of being exposed to a market where securities, including cryptocurrencies, fluctuate. In our case, we will not store them like Bitcoin, like Ethereum. There will be a middleman who will convert them, for our purposes, back to dollars.
In addition to Colorado, there are 20 other states planning to implement similar measures, which is more than interesting news for those who want to manage 100% with cryptocurrencies. In fact, some politicians go further, such as the Mayor of New York, who wants to collect his salary in Bitcoin instead of in dollars, which is why more and more politicians incorporate cryptocurrencies into their lives and those of others. its citizens.
Everything indicates that at some point, Americans will be able to move 100% with cryptocurrencies
In the United States, especially, many businesses already accept cryptocurrencies, and if not, there are many cards that automatically convert your cryptocurrencies to dollars to make payments on sites that do not accept cryptocurrencies, so those faithful to cryptocurrencies hardly even touch the dollar. Here in Latin America we are beginning to see some services of this style little by little, although at the moment they are not very popular, so they are still lacking for their massive use. It will be interesting to see if these services continue to grow, and if we ever reach this degree of acceptance that many states in the United States are beginning to have.
What do you think about this decision by the governor of Colorado to accept cryptocurrencies to pay taxes? Would you like to see something like this where you live?
