Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev on the sidelines of the HSE conference “Formation and Development of the Russian National Currency” said that settlements in cryptocurrencies in Russia would be banned.
“The use of cryptocurrency to calculate and pay for goods, works and services, of course, will be prohibited in Russia, as it seems to me, always. I do not know what will happen in 100 years, but in the foreseeable future it will be so. Our national currency is the ruble and therefore all settlements in the country should be carried out only in rubles, ”Moiseyev told reporters.
In addition, Moiseyev noted that the idea of introducing criminal penalties for mining was discussed earlier, but so far they will not do this, since “it’s absolutely impossible to describe the elements of a crime, so we decided to describe the object first, and then we will think about the rest.
“The draft law“ On digital financial assets ”is included in the national project for the development of the digital economy, therefore it is necessary to adopt it in the current session of the State Duma. Only one disagreement remains that could not be resolved at the working level, so it will be resolved at the political level, ”Moiseev stressed.
Recall, on June 18, Moiseyev announced that the final text of the draft law “On digital financial assets” was ready and should be adopted in the second reading in the next two weeks. However, Anatoly Aksakov subsequently stated that the government would take the final decision on a total ban or cryptocurrency legalization before July 25.
A little earlier, the chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Elvira Nabiullina, said that the financial regulator opposes the legalization and use of cryptocurrency as a means of payment in the country.
