The youtuber behind the famous PC of The Verge comes to light again, correcting his mistakes

Stefan Etienne teamed up with Linus Tech Tips for a YouTube video where they talk about the famous PC building guide from The Verge.

Fixing The Verge PC Build – feat. Stefan Etienne

In 2018 The Verge published a PC building guide, made by Stefan Etienne, which was a disaster. The guide received a lot of teasing and memes, and even got his page on Know Your Meme. Despite everything, the guide is still published, although at the beginning The Verge clarifies: “An old version of this article had a video detailing the process. Unfortunately, the video was removed, as it had several errors in the assembly process ”.

All this despite being funny and a bit embarrassing, led to some very strong criticism turning into abuse and hate campaigns. What should have ended in simple memes took a very ugly turn, with death threats and personal attacks on Stefan. The Verge editor Nilay Patel said the site does not tolerate harassment campaigns, and He warned that any negative feedback in the guide would be eliminated.

“Back then it was my 4th PC and my first time on camera” said Stefan

In spite of everything Stefan Etienne got together with Linus for a video in which they analyze the original guide, commenting on the errors and correcting them, and they also have an interesting chat about the case on the internet.

“The script has to be turned into a one-hour video,” Etienne explained. “At around 3:00 PM, they said, ‘How about we finish at 4 so we leave earlier?’ I couldn’t see the video until 48 hours before it came out. I couldn’t tell my editors, I couldn’t call Nilay, I couldn’t tell anyone it was rubbish. It left on Monday at 8 AM. Point.”

Harassment cases like these are not few, and unfortunately you have to be careful with what you put on the web. Many times it happens that for issuing a simple opinion on Twitter or more silly things, people sentence these people.

But luckily Stefan knew how to take the situation and gave us this video that is very interesting and serves as a very good ending to the story of the infamous PC of The Verge.
