There are more and more women in gamedev every year. According to Statista, while in 2019 they constituted 24 percent. employees of this sector in the world, in 2021 it was already 30 percent. This shows that, contrary to popular opinion, women do not avoid digital entertainment and are more and more willing to do it professionally.
Currently, we are slowly moving away from the stereotypical belief that only men play games. In fact, statistical data show that only in Poland nearly half of the players (46%) are women. They most often choose mobile games (91%), especially logical games (33%). And although there is still no advantage of women in the game development industry, there are more and more of them every year.

Women choose to work in this industry not only for earnings, although of course these are equally important and this is the main reason for 71% of respondents. respondents (according to the report “Women in IT 2022”). However, the same number of women declare that they care about personal development in a specific field. The research conducted by the organization also showed that in order to work in the IT industry, you do not necessarily have to code – 46 percent. of women admitted that no programming knowledge is required for the position held by them. Moreover, only 27.5 percent. of women graduated from technical studies – more than half of the study participants changed their branches.
It is very happy that there are more and more women in both the IT industry and the gamedev itself. In Evolution, already 58 percent. of all employees are women, and 45 percent. women hold managerial positions. Moreover, in the teams working in our studio, the proportion of both genders is 50/50. We believe that strength lies in diversity and thanks to this we are developing intensively and successfully operating on the international arena, creating modern solutions for the online games industry. In 2014-2019, the percentage of women working in gamedev oscillated around 21-24 percent, last year it was already 30 percent. It seems that the pandemic motivated women to make their dreams come true and enter the gaming industry. Working with new technologies gives great satisfaction and a chance for continuous development.
