There are more oil and gas drilling rigs in the world in September

MOSCOW, 7 Oct — PRIME. The number of active oil and gas drilling rigs around the world in September rose by 28 compared to August, or 1.5%, to 1,853, according to data from US oil and gas service company Baker Hughes.

In annual terms, the number of active drilling rigs increased by 405, or 28%.

In the US, according to the company, the figure for the month decreased by one and amounted to 763, in Canada the number of drilling rigs increased by 10 to 211 rigs.

The number of rigs in Europe rose by two to 106. In the Middle East, the figure remained at 308 in August, in the Asia-Pacific region the number of rigs rose by six to 205, in Africa it rose by three to 80. In Latin America the indicator increased by eight units, up to 180 installations.

Baker Hughes has been providing weekly rig count data for the US and Canada since 1944. Since 1975, the service company has published the number of rigs worldwide every month.
