ANKARA, 6 Oct – PRIME. Turkey reduced gas imports from Russia in July by 37.2%, while increasing purchases from Iran and Azerbaijan, Anadolu news agency reported citing a report by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority.

Foreign Ministry allowed Germany to completely refuse Russian gas

“Natural gas imports to Turkey in July 2022 decreased by 15.7% compared to the same month last year and amounted to about 3 billion 411 million cubic meters,” the agency said. In particular, about 3.028 billion cubic meters were imported through pipelines and 383 million in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by tankers.

“During the reporting period, natural gas imports through pipelines decreased by 13%, and deliveries through LNG tankers – by 32.6%. In July, Turkey purchased the largest volumes of natural gas from Russia – 1 billion 448 million cubic meters. Followed by Iran – 870 million cubic meters, and Azerbaijan – 710 million cubic meters. Over the specified period, gas imports from Russia decreased by 37.2%, and from Iran and Azerbaijan – increased by 37.5% and 31.5%, respectively,” the publication specified.
