VAIO SX12 and SX14 notebooks updated with 6-core Intel Comet-Lake CPU

About six months after the official presentation, VAIO announces the 2020 version of notebook SX12 and SX14, now updated with processors 10th gen Intel Core Comet-Lake unveiled last August. The distinctive feature of these notebooks remains the ultra-compact design and the very low weight thanks to the use of carbon fiber: there is talk of about 880 grams for the 12 "VAIO SX12 model and one kilogram for the 14" VAIO SX14 variant.

Dimensions and display aside, the two notebooks have practically identical technical specifications; VAIO SX12 uses a 12.5 "FHD panel, VAIO SX14 instead mounts a 14" panel also with 4K option.

As for the hardware platform, VAIO offers two options for the CPU: the exa-core Intel Core i7-10710U and the quad-core Core i5-10210U. The graphics are the integrated Intel UHD while for the memory we report the use of LPDDR3 RAM (max 8GB) and SSD type NVMe PCI-E or SATA 3 storage (depending on the version).

On board we find WiFi AC, Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth 4.1 and LTE optional connectivity; there is no shortage USB 3.1 gen 2, USB Type-C, HDMI and SD reader while the operating system is Windows 10 Home. VAIO did not disclose the battery capacity, according to what is reported in the data sheet, however VAIO SX12 should guarantee about 12.5 hours of autonomy while VAIO SX14 rises to 14 hours.

VAIO SX12 and VAIO SX14 are available in Japan starting at 197,800 yen (about 1600 euros at the exchange rate), marketing in Europe is currently still excluded.
