Vermont State to Track Hemp on Ethereum Blockchain

The Department of Agriculture from the U.S. state of Vermont announced plans to use technology blockchain in order to follow the hemp locally grown and thus strengthen the protection of the consumers.

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture Food and Markets (VAAFM) has entered into a strategic partnership with the blockchain startup Trace.

According to the agency, the traceability platform designed by Trace will help producers of hemp of Vermont to develop this market more quickly.

We are delighted to partner with Trace to have technology blockchain to administer the recording of the life of the hemp. Producers and consumers alike will benefit from the transparency this partnership brings to the Vermont hemp industry, "said Cary Giguere, director of VAAFM.

A platform built on Ethereum

Also based in the Vermont, a state in the northeast of the United States known for its immense forests, the company Trace developed a platform on the blockchain Ethereum specially designed for monitoring hemp and cannabis.

We are delighted to be associated with the State of Vermont. Our company was born in Vermont, so we could see the value that Trace can bring to Vermonters who grow, test and sell hemp, ”Said Josh Decatur, CEO of Trace.

Thanks to this innovation, the Vermont will become the first state to have a fully integrated recording and tracking system for its dedicated program hemp, prides itself on the public agency which hopes to use the solution from next March.
