MOSCOW, 11 Oct — PRIME. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has accused Norway of trying to cash in on gas exports to Europe after the decline in supplies from Russia, writes The Washington Post.
As noted, many Europeans sharply criticize Norway, which, after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, has significantly increased energy revenues. It is the Scandinavian country that is now the leading supplier of gas to the European Union. Recently, a new gas pipeline was opened linking Norway with Poland.
“Critics call energy revenues obscene. Poland’s prime minister called on Norway to share its ‘excessive, gigantic’ profits with Ukraine, accusing Oslo of indirectly profiting from the conflict,” the article says.
The publication notes that Norway does not agree with the accusations of speculation. Oslo points to compliance with EU sanctions, the allocation of military assistance to Ukraine and the support of Europe itself with gas.
