Xbox Series X external HD supporters and proprietary NMVe SSDs

Microsoft in addition to sharing the full Xbox Series X specifications, confirming the presence of an internal 1TB SSD memory with a proprietary NVMe interface, he further stated that the new console will also have a slot in which to insert 1TB expansion modules to further increase the storage space.

In collaboration with Seagate, Microsoft has made some cards designed specifically for the Xbox Series X and for new generation games that will take advantage of the proprietary NVMe interface and use PCI Express 4.0 connections, such as the internal NVMe SSD.

The Microsoft console will also support USB 3.2 external hard drives, like those used on current consoles, however the company points out that to benefit from all the advantages of the Xbox Velocity architecture and obtain optimal performance, the new generation games must be played from the internal SSD or from the expansion card. USB 3.2 external hard drives can therefore be used for products of past generations (Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Xbox Original).
