A test of the Core i9-12900K leaks in Cinebench R20, beating the Ryzen 9 5950X

New tests of the Core i9-12900K continue to come to light, and in this case a test in Cinebench R20 came to light, showing its results in both the single-core test and the multi-core test, revealing what to expect in both. aspects.

As revealed by whoever tested the CPU, it was tested on a B660 motherboard with DDR4-3600 memory and not DDR5, so it is not getting the most out of this CPU. In addition, the motherboard had problems with the Thermal Velocity Boost function because it had a very early bios, so the CPU reached 5.1GHz instead of 5.3GHz in the single-core tests. Windows 11 was used as the operating system.

The screenshot taken after finishing both Cinebench R20 tests shows that the Core i9-12900K achieved 768cb in the single-core test and 10545cb in the multi-core test, two impressive results. For comparison, the Ryzen 9 5950X scores approximately 650 and 10,500 points in these tests, so the Core i9-12900K far outperforms it in single-core and equals it in multi-core even with fewer threads. The difference compared to its predecessor, the i9-11900K, is even greater, since it obtains 640 points in the single-core test and about 6400 points in the multi-core test, so the improvements from one generation to the other are awesome.

In addition to this test in Cinebench R20, the user also shared a stress test of the CPU to show its consumption, which reached 257W, within the margin of error of its 250W PL2. As we can see, under stress its high-performance cores remain at 4.9GHz while its high-efficiency cores remain at 3.7GHz.

It will be interesting to see the performance of this processor with final BIOSes and DDR5 ram memories, although these tests already show that even under not entirely favorable conditions the performance of Alder Lake-S will be more than good.

The 12th is expected. Generation of Intel Core processors is announced on October 27, and that same day pre-sales begin with deliveries from November 4. As we get closer to launch, many more leaks are sure to come to light, so stay tuned for HD Technology.

What do you think about the performance of the Core i9-12900K? Does it seem like the time has finally come to upgrade your motherboard and CPU?
