Yesterday evening Intel announced the arrival of his first dedicated GPUs, starting from the mobile sector with the proposals of the Arc 3 series, more particularly with the A370M and A350M models. The company has unveiled most of the technical specifications, but has kept some details that interest geeks like us, such as the size of the die and number of transistors of the GPU. Well, those values ​​were also leaked in a video of Hardware Unboxed.

As explained in the previous article, Intel’s offering is divided into two chips called ACM-G10 and ACM-G11both produced with process N6 from Taiwanese TSMC. The first is the most powerful, strong of a maximum of 32 Xe-Corewhile the second stops at 8 Car-Core.

According to what has been learned from Hardware Unboxed, ACM-G10 is a 406 square millimeter chip with 21.7 billion transistors. This is higher than the AMD Navi 22 (336 mm2, 17.2 billion transistors) and NVIDIA GA104 (392 mm2, 17.4 billion transistors) GPUs. Navi 22 is the heart of the Radeon RX 6700 XT, while NVIDIA’s GA104 is used in the desktop environment in several models, the best of which is represented by the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.

The density of the ACM-G10 GPU transistor is equal to 53.4 million transistors per square millimeter, while the value drops to 51.2 million and 44.4 million for Navi 22 and GA104. It should be noted that AMD’s GPU is produced by TSMC with N7 process, while that of NVIDIA by Samsung at 8 nm.

As for instead ACM-G11Intel has managed to cram 7.2 billion transistors in 157 square millimeters. The characteristics of this GPU suggest that (perhaps) we will see something in the middle in order to fill a clear gap between the two proposals in view of the landing of Intel GPUs in the desktop and workstation sectors.

For comparison, an AMD Navi 24 GPU (also made with the N6 process by TSMC), counts 107 mm2 and 5.4 billion transistors. Unfortunately, at the moment there is no official information regarding the NVIDIA GA107 – used only in the mobile environment – while the GA106 of the RTX 3050 provides 12 billion transistors in 276 mm2 (which makes it a GPU of a category higher than the two mentioned above. ).

Based on these data, the possibility is strengthened that ACM-G10 can give life to a desktop video card capable of competing in terms of performance with the GeForce RTX 3070/3070 Ti and the Radeon RX 6700 XT, as per previous rumors. To find out, however, we just have to wait for the beginning of summer with the arrival of the Arc 5 and Arc 7 mobile proposals and desktop video cards (both from partners and in limited edition directly from Intel).
