MOSCOW, August 28 – PRIME. Algeria plans to increase gas supplies to France amid the risk of a “tense” winter in the EU country, Europe1 radio station reported, citing sources.
Europe’s dry tourism boom due to extreme heat
French President Emmanuel Macron was on a visit to Algiers on August 25-27. The issue of energy supplies was not on the agenda.
“Algeria could well increase gas supplies to France by 50%,” the report says.
According to the radio station, Algeria has so far given Paris only a verbal commitment. Representatives of Algeria and the French energy company Engie are to discuss the issue of increasing supplies “in the coming hours.” It is noted that during Macron’s visit to the country, Engie CEO Catherine McGregor met with the Minister of Energy and the head of the Algerian oil and gas company Sonatrach.
