AMD announces Radeon R7 260

Graphics card maker AMD has not yet finished launching graphics cards in their latest Radeon 200 series. Today, another model is introduced in the performance class R7, which is based on a scaled-down variant of the Bonaire graphics circuit and is placed just below the Radeon R7 260X in the performance hierarchy.

The Radeon R7 260 is equipped with 768 stream processors in 1,000 MHz and a 128-bit memory bus with GDDR5 memory clocked at 6,000 MHz. The biggest difference compared to the Radeon R7 260X is that the amount of graphics memory goes down from 2 GB to 1 GB for the newcomer. The graphics card’s power consumption is specified at 95 watts.

The Radeon R7 260 goes up against the Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 Ti in the lower middle class and will be launched in mid-January. The recommended sales price is 79 euros excluding VAT, corresponding to approximately 900–1,000 kronor including VAT.
