AMD “Big Navi” is said to break the Geforce RTX 3080 in 3DMark Firestrike

This autumn’s battle between graphics giants Nvidia and AMD got off to a flying start with the former, where the graphics cards in the Ampere family were launched with the Geforce RTX 3080. Real specifications were also matched by impressive performance in SweClocker’s test, but high demand is also accompanied by weak supply. AMD’s response to the Ampere is spelled RDNA 2 and the Radeon RX 6000 series, where the flagship circuit has the picturesque name “Big Navi”.

Rumors and leaks have in recent months painted a fairly clear picture of what “Big Navi” should offer in terms of specifications, but reports about its level of performance have been more unusual. Now presents CapFrameX, known for the analysis software of the same name, information on what are said to be performance figures for “Big Navi” in the test suite 3DMark Firestrike Ultra.

According to information, “Big Navi” reigns with a score of 11,500, which CapFrameX instead of own results for Geforce RTX 3080 which lands in 10,600 points. The performance advantage lands at 8.5 percent for AMD’s monster circuit, but it does not appear if the result refers to the circuit Navi 21 XT or Navi 21 XTX. The former is said to be the “Big Navi” circuit that partner manufacturers use for flagship graphics cards, while the Navi 21 XTX is said to be the most advanced model that may only be sold by AMD themselves in limited edition.

If the performance results turn out to indicate how “Big Navi” will stand up to Nvidia’s top cards, it will be extra interesting to know which circuit has been tested. As the Geforce RTX 3090 offers an average performance advantage of 12 percent in 4K UHD over the sibling RTX 3080 in SweClocker’s test, “Big Navi” falls within reach of Nvidia’s worst. If the AMD result used Navi 21 XT as a basis, then there are additional performance steps to wait for Navi 21 XTX.

How all members of the Radeon RX 6000 series stand up to the Geforce RTX 3000 competitor remains to be seen. Radeon RX 6000 will be unveiled on October 28 at 18:00 Swedish time. Unsurprisingly, SweClockers is watching the event live.
