AMD Introduces New Ryzen 4000 HS, and Its New Standard for OEM Equipment |

Along with the announcement of its Ryzen 4000 processors for notebook computers, AMD is also announcing the arrival of a new processor name, and along with it a standard for equipment design at manufacturers.

Something that happened so far, was that teams with AMD processors that could be very good, were accompanied by less than optimal designs, or with medium-quality components, giving a final experience to customers that left something to be desired. In this way the image of AMD products was not the best.

For this, AMD devised the “Ryzen 4000 HS” standard, which manufacturers have to comply with, if they want to incorporate a model HS processor into their equipment. In this way, AMD validates both design, temperature, performance, battery life, components, etc … In the case that AMD gives the go-ahead, manufacturers can put the sticker that corresponds to a Ryzen 4000 HS processor, and with This ensures performance according to the standard expected by AMD.

The family of processors that make up this group is:

ModelFreq Base / BoostCores / ThreadsCacheGPU CoresGPU FreqTDP
Ryzen 9 4900HS3.0 GHz / 4.3 GHz8/1612 MB81750 MHz35W
Ryzen 7 4800HS2.9 GHz / 4.2 GHz8/1612 MB71600 MHz35W
Ryzen 5 4600HS3.0 GHz / 4.0 GHz6/1211 MB61500 MHz35W

At the peak of performance is the Ryzen 9 4900HS, the “younger” brother of the Ryzen 9 4900H, it has different frequencies and a lower TDP than its brother the R9 4900H.

At the top of the list will be the Ryzen 9 4900HS, whose specifications are very similar to the R9 4900H, except for the base and boost frequencies.

This is less what can be expected in terms of performance of this range of processors and equipment that meet this standard.

One of the teams that would be for the launch of these new processors, and complying with the standard is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. This 14 ″ equipment has a Ryzen 4000HS processor inside, along with a discrete graphics, and all in a design with a thickness of no more than 2 cm.

These teams are designed to arrive in Q2 2020, but with everything that happens in the world regarding the Coronavirus, and with it the supply problems in terms of manufacturing, the most probable thing is that its launch will be postponed.
