AMD is ready to make ARM-based processors, although they believe that x86 continues to be better

AMD CFO Devinder Kumar recently revealed that AMD is ready to make ARM processors if any customer requires it, and they have also received multiple inquiries about it, showing that there is a high demand for chips based on this architecture. This gives continuity to the words of Lisa Su at the beginning of the year, where she assured that the company is willing to create all kinds of solutions for its clients, whether based on ARM or x86 depending on their needs and desires.

We’re ready to move on and do it even if it’s not x86, even though we believe x86 is the dominant force in this area. “

Kumar’s sayings are in tune with all the previous statements of different company executives, ensuring that they believe that their x86-based microarchitectures are the fastest solutions on the market, although if someone has another preference such as ARM, they can also work on it. and deliver an ARM-based product seamlessly.

Currently AMD is one of the companies that are licensed to work with ARM, although it does not market any large products based exclusively on ARM. The company’s only ARM-based implementation is its Platform Security Processor, which is based on an ARM Cortex-A5 core and seeks to prevent malicious attacks on the recent Ryzen and EPYC processors, although it is only a small part of the product. and not its center as it would be a processor based exclusively on ARM, something that we could see in the future if a client requires it.
