AMD Radeon “Polaris” -based graphics card captured on image

In conjunction with the Game Developers Conference 2016, AMD announced the Radeon Pro Duo and upcoming graphics architectures, where Polaris is closest in time. It is already known that real improvements in energy efficiency are to be expected, but also that the graphics cards will support both Displayport 1.3 and HDMI 2.0.

In addition to large stage presentations, the company demonstrated the DirectX 12 title Hitman with a Polaris-based graphics card, where the back and video connections were attached to the image. Remarkably, the layout is different from current AMD graphics cards and it’s more like something from Nvidia.

The connections consist of a DVI-D (Dual Link) flanked by ventilation holes, an HDMI and three Displayports. Extra interesting here are the Displayport connections, which should be of version 1.3, whose bandwidth paves the way for the next generation of screens with 4K resolution in 120 Hz and 5,120 x 2,880 pixels (5K) in 60 Hz.

The launch of AMD’s architecture Polaris with associated graphics cards is expected to take place during the summer months.
