AMD Radeon RX 480 unlocked to RX 580 with BIOS flash

On April 18, AMD launched its refined versions of the Polaris chips for the Radeon RX 550, RX 560, RX 570 and RX 580 graphics cards. unlocked stream processors from 896 to 1,024 pieces.

Now the user “Tonybonjoby” on Techpowerup’s forum has managed to modify his RX 480 8GB from the manufacturer XFX to a full-scale Sapphire RX 580 Limited Edition (1,411 MHz) via a so-called BIOS flash. This increases the clock frequency of both the Polaris circuit and the memory modules at a higher voltage price, which is comparable to a relatively rough overclocking of the common Radeon RX 480.

The tool used is the well-known flash tool for AMD graphics cards ATIFlash, and the BIOS version used by the user in question was found on Techpowerup’s own BIOS database.
