AMD Radeon RX 5700 series from Asus in front of the camera

On July 7, AMD made a big splash and launched both new graphics cards and processors, and common to the products is manufacturing of 7 nanometers and brand new architectures. The graphics cards in question are the Radeon RX 5700 and the more powerful sibling RX 5700 XT, which are equipped with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory and a graphics circuit based on the Navi architecture.

The two graphics cards are currently available from several manufacturers, but all are equipped with the relatively loud reference cooler. Partner cards with other cooling solutions will instead be released sometime in August and recently variants from MSI, Asrock and XFX have found their way into the picture. Hardware.info is now publishing images of two Asus-signed models.

Asus’ well-reputed and lavish series ROG Strix OC will be expanded with the Radeon RX 5700 and the variant with “XT” suffix and on the menu is a solid aluminum heat sink. This is accompanied by heat pipes and a trio of fans, which are surrounded by a black plastic cover with RGB lighting. Lighting is also visible on the logo found on the cover plate on the back of the card.

In comparison with the reference cards, the ROG Strix OC models are thicker and thus require more than two free expansion slots. The powerful radiator and the “OC” part of the product name also gossip that Asus has increased the clock frequencies, which is further strengthened by the power supply that has been upgraded to dual 8-pin PCI Express connectors.

In addition, a picture shows a more discreet card belonging to the TUF series, where the configuration with three fans specifically means TUF Gaming X3. The two Navi-based graphics cards are said to be released in versions with the said cooler, which lacks RGB lighting but still comes with a cover plate for the back and a black plastic cover over the aluminum heat sink.

Hardware.info also writes that the Radeon RX 5700 will also be part of the Asus Dual Evo family, which means a slightly simpler cooler with dual fans. At the time of writing, however, there is no picture of this card, but according to information, the launch will take place on 30 August.

The launch dates for the ROG Strix OC and TUF Gaming X3 variants are set for August 16 and 23, respectively, but Asus has not officially announced the date or customized variants of the Radeon RX 5700 series. Finally, the same set of picture connections is visible for the two latter series, consisting of one HDMI and three Displayports. What applies to the Radeon RX 5700 Dual Evo remains to be seen.
