AMD Radeon RX 7000: Not only RDNA 3 GPU, also an RDNA 2 chip refresh?

Radeon RX 6700 XT, AMD will present it on March 3: it's official

AMD Radeon RX 7000: Not only RDNA 3 GPU, also an RDNA 2 chip refresh?

According to rumors spread by a leaker on Twitter, the future range of schede video gaming di AMD, the hypothetical family Radeon RX 7000, could be formed from a mix of Navi 2x (RDNA 2) and Navi 3x (RDNA 3) GPUs. In essence, the US company could offer in addition to new Navi 3x GPUs for the high end, even a refresh of some current GPUs in order to complete the offer in the mid-range and entry-level range.

The cores chosen for this refresh would be Ships 22 and Ships 23, currently aboard RX 6700 XT and 6600 XT, and manufactured with TSMC’s 7-nanometer manufacturing process. The refresh, apparently, would consist of switching to 6 nanometers, an aspect that would allow AMD to further raise the operating frequency and keep consumption at bay.

As for the GPU RDNA 3, we talk about the existence of three projects carried out at 5 nanometers called Navi 31, 32 and 33, which could respectively constitute RX 7900, 7800 and 7700 series.

Of these projects it seems that, compared to a “monolithic” Navi 33 with 5120 stream processors like the current Navi 21, the other two chips could have double (Navi 32) and triple (Navi 31) stream processors thanks to a design Multi-Chip Module (MCM) where multiple GPUs should be placed on the same package.

The rumors also cite the GPU RDNA 4, 4x ships, with the same leaker as expects a numerically larger range of GPUs than the RDNA 3. Obviously all this information is to be taken with due caution, the new series of AMD Radeon RX 7000 GPUs should not see the light until 2022.
