AMD releases Catalyst 13.10 Beta 2 for Battlefield 4

With only hours left before the first desktop warriors get access to Battlefield 4 Beta, AMD is releasing the new Catalyst 13.10 Beta, where optimizations for the upcoming big game are one of the main issues. However, there is more news in the change log.

First and foremost, there are game profiles for Battlefield 4 in both single configuration and Crossfire. Mysteriously, AMD points out that this applies to the 32-bit version, even though Tuesday’s beta only comes with 64-bit binaries. However, it is likely that the drivers still contain profiles for the 64-bit edition, not least because the game is part of AMD’s developer program Gaming Evolved.

Another novelty is optimizations of frame pacing, a feature that is there to provide smoother rendering times. The new beta-labeled driver will ensure that this works better in cases where the processor limits performance.

In addition, an updated Crossfire profile for Total War: Rome 2 and a number of new or updated game profiles for the power-saving technology AMD Enduro can be seen. The latter is intended for the Radeon Mobility series, that is, graphics components commonly found in laptops.

AMD’s new drivers are compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 and are available as a regular download from the developers’ website. Battlefield 4 Beta kicks off on Tuesday, October 1 at 10:00 Swedish time and is available to anyone who has purchased Battlefield 3 Premium, Medal of Honor: Warfighter or pre-booked Battlefield 4 Digital Deluxe / Limited Edition via Origin.
