AMD Ryzen 9 4900U: top of the range low consumption APU. Here are the details

AMD could present shortly Ryzen 9 4900U, a new high-performance mobile processor belonging to the range Ryzen 4000 Mobile announced in March. The new APU has been spotted on several online benchmark platforms that anticipate interesting technical characteristics, superior to the current top model AMD Ryzen 4800U.

The Ryzen 9 4900U shares the same core / thread configuration as its younger brother, 8 cores / 16 threads, keeping the same TDP of 15W, but at the same time offering slightly more pushed operating frequencies.

In more detail Ryzen 9 4900U uses 7nm Zen 2 architecture, is equipped with 8MB of L3 cache and has one single-core boost frequency of 4.4 GHzi.e. 200 MHz more than Ryzen 7 4800U. From the point of view of graphics, on board we find the same integrated Vega 8 set at 1750 MHz.

Ryzen 9 4900U supports DDR4 3200 or LPDDR4 4266 RAM, the maximum TDP is 25W while PCI-Express support is still stuck to the PCIe gen 3.0 standard. Since it is still unofficial data, it is not yet possible to comment on the various benchmarks, however it is clear that it is a processor that will most likely give a hard time even to desktop models.
