Apple announces iPhone 13, along with its Mini, Pro and Pro Max variants

Apple officially announced its new iPhone 13 line, including the same variants as its predecessor line: a standard variant, a Mini variant, a Pro variant, and a Pro Max variant, offering alternatives for all tastes.

The entire line is based on the new Apple A15 SOC, which is manufactured under the TSMC 5nm process, and has 6 CPU cores (2 high-performance cores plus 4 high-efficiency cores) that according to Apple allow be up to 50% faster than the competition (possibly referring to the Snapdragon 888), accompanied by 5 GPU cores for 30% more graphics performance than the Apple A14, and a 16-core neural engine designed for maximum performance in AI.

The entry-level models of the iPhone 13 line are very similar to last year’s models in terms of design. The size of its notch was reduced by 20% and the distribution of the sensors of its rear camera slightly changed, although the Ceramic Shield screens of 5.4 ″ in the Mini version and 6.1 ″ in the standard edition, and the body of the mobile in general is almost identical to that of the previous line, with a slightly greater thickness due to its larger capacity batteries.

On the camera side, Apple uses a 12MP main sensor with f / 1.6 aperture and 1.7um pixel size, allowing it to capture up to 47% more light than the sensor used in the iPhone 12, accompanied by an ultra-wide sensor. It has an f / 2.4 aperture and 13mm focal length to achieve a 120 ° angle of view.

Both the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini will be available in 5 colors, and will have capacities of 128GB, 256GB or 512GB, setting aside the standard 64GB capacity of the iPhone 12 line in favor of a minimum of 128GB. Pre-sales will begin on September 17 with deliveries from September 24, with prices starting at $ 699 for the iPhone 13 Mini and $ 799 for the standard iPhone 13.

As in the iPhone 12 line, the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max have Super Retina XDR displays with ProMotion technology to achieve a refresh rate of 120Hz, with sizes of 6.1 “and 6.7” respectively. Both have a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, and a variable refresh rate between 10Hz and 120Hz depending on the content that is played.

Regarding its cameras, it has a main sensor with a focal length of 26mm, pixel size of 1.9 um and aperture f / 1.5 with OIS, an ultra-wide sensor with a focal length of 13mm and aperture f / 1.8, and a telephoto sensor with a 77mm focal length, 3X optical zoom, f / 2.8 focal aperture and OIS, all with 12MP resolution. It also has a LIDAR sensor that allows 3D scanning for augmented reality, which is still exclusive to the Pro line in this new series.

The Pro models will have an exclusive mode to take night photographs with higher quality, and a new ProRes codec similar to the RAW format that will allow more flexibility when editing videos taken with the cell phone, being an excellent option for those looking for a great quality when taking photos and videos with your smartphone.

The latest update of these phones is their battery, having capacities of 3095mAh in the Pro model and 4352mAh in the Pro Max model, which will allow to extend the use for 2 and a half hours compared to the maximum use time of its predecessors.
