ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 Noctua Official Edition: fast and quiet, occupies 4 slots

Dopo the ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 Noctua Edition, ASUS e Noctua announced the second fruit of their collaboration, the ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 Noctua Edition. The two companies had revealed in late March that something was boiling in the pot and this model confirms that the partnership was not a “only one“.

Like the previous model, this new proposal also adopts a heatsink with two Noctua NF-A12x25 120mm fans and a custom radiator (not only larger but also with an expanded base totally in copper) which ensure a high cooling capacity while maintaining a noise level as low as possible.

With automatic fan settings the Noctua Edition is 4.5 dB (A) quieter of the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080, while GPU e VRAM reach respectively 3 ° C and 14 ° C lower. “With the fans running at full speed, a scenario that could occur in the worst situations where the card is totally under stress in poorly ventilated homes or with very high ambient temperatures, the noise reduction is 8.6 dB (A) and memory it’s still 12 ° C cooler, ”says Noctua.

The picture with fans at a reduced speed is similar, with slightly lower GPU temperatures, significantly cooler memories (-22 ° C) and 2.3 dB (A) lower noise. As the first model born of the collaboration, this RTX 3080 also has a double BIOS which allows you to switch from a Performance profile to a Quiet one (the latter is the default).

In terms of technical specifications it must be borne in mind that the card has dimensions of 306.2 x 144.8 x 82.6 mm and takes up 4.1 slots on the motherboard. There are two HDMI 2.1 and three DisplayPort 1.4a on board. As for the frequencies, the GPU is factory overclocked, with the Boost Clock at 1785 MHz in the Gaming mode and 1815 MHz in the OC. It should be noted that, strangely, this Noctua Edition comes with 10 GB of VRAM, like the original RTX 3080.
