Test – Phononix Hex 2.0 |Specs | CPU | Hashrate

A test of a somewhat special cooler today, in addition to being the first model tested from the Phononic brand at Conseil Config, it is indeed equipped with a thermoelectric effect plate (or Peltier)! The Peltier effect (also called the thermoelectric effect) is a physical phenomenon of heat displacement in the presence of an electric current. The effect occurs in conductive materials1 of different types linked by junctions (contacts). One of the junctions then cools slightly, while the other heats up. This effect was discovered in 1834 by physicist Jean-Charles Peltier (source: Wikipedia). On paper the principle is therefore rather nice, but how will it be put into practice with a small CPU cooler? This is what we will see.
Niche product and advanced technology oblige the Hex 2.0 from Phononic is not cheap, it takes around 125 € to get it, more expensive than coolers and at the same price as a high-end AIO kit.

The box is very sober, a photo of the product in profile as well as the name of the brand and the model, at least we are not attacked by pompous marketing, and yet given the technology used it could very well have been the case.

On the side a listing of the main strengths of the beast, namely easy installation, no coolant, “exceptional” heat control etc.
Note that the box really gives an impression of a quality product, even if this is only a small detail, we can see that the brand wants to do well.

When opening the box, we fall on the beast in thick layers of cardboard and held in place by a plastic band. A small box is also present containing the bundle.

The bundle consists of:

• 1 x installation manual
• 2 x installation kit for AMD and Intel socket
• 1 x motherboard back plate
• 1 x USB cable
• 1 x rallonge 4-pin PWM
• 1 x screwdriver
• 1 x thermal paste tube
• The necessary hardware packed in individual bags

As we can see, the bundle is complete and will allow you to install the Hex 2.0 without the slightest problem, everything is there until the screwdriver.
