Asus is said to be preparing the ROG Strix Gaming model of the upcoming Radeon RX 590

In 2016, AMD released the architecture Polaris, which in the form of the Radeon RX 480 would have to take on the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 in the high-volume mid-segment. With unclear pricing and power consumption running away, it was not an obvious choice compared to the competition, but still offered a good alternative.

Since then, the Polaris architecture has been the subject of a series of revisions, and data show that the Polaris 30 graphics circuit is approaching, with updated manufacturing technology and higher clock frequencies. According to information to Videocardz, Asus is currently working on a customized third-party card for the circuit.

No special details are revealed, other than that the name ROG Strix is also retained for AMD’s graphics cards, where Nvidia’s GPP program for some time is believed to have led manufacturers to create their own product series for AMD’s graphics cards. Asus’ side then appeared the Arez series, but this one seems to have been scrapped before the Radeon RX 590.

The Radeon RX 590 is expected to build on the same circuit as the Radeon RX 580, but will be manufactured on Globalfoundries refined 12-nanometer technology. This should result in up to 15 percent higher clock frequencies, which is in line with the performance tests in 3DMark Time Spy that were found online, where about 10 percent higher performance was found compared to its predecessor.

When and if the Radeon RX 590 will be released is still unclear, and the same goes for pricing.
