Asus releases the Geforce GTX 680 DC2 with 4 GB of memory and Assassin’s Creed 3

It looks like it will be a long winter for those waiting for the next generation of graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia. However, that does not stop Asus from expanding the existing range with a new model based on the Geforce GTX 680.

Like previous models, the new graphics card is based on Nvidia’s graphics processor GK104 with 1,536 CUDA cores and 256-bit memory bus. The clock frequencies remain at the standard levels, but Asus takes care to double the amount of memory to 4 GB GDDR5.

– The demand for high-performance dual-memory graphics cards is very high. The benefits of extended graphics memory are especially noticeable when using very high resolution with more than one graphics card, says Marcus Hultin, assistant marketing manager at Asus Nordic.

More details are the 6 + 2-phase power supply, the DirectCU II cooler that takes up an extra card slot (two in total) and connections for two DVI, HDMI and Displayport. Finally, Asus wants to entice gamers to upgrade by sending a game in the package: Assassin’s Creed 3.
