Asus ROG Ares II costs SEK 13,999

Anyone who wants to be the worst in the neighborhood and get their hands on a brand new Asus ROG Ares II must be prepared to open their wallet significantly. What may well be the world’s fastest graphics card is also one of the most expensive consumer models of all time.

Several Swedish retailers now have the upcoming graphics card in the range and quite rightly it is not about small sums. Asus ROG Ares II can be ordered from a little over SEK 12,000, but the recommended price amounts to SEK 13,999 including VAT.

Asus ROG Ares II contains two “Tahiti XT” graphics circuits with a total of 4,096 stream processors and 6 GB of GDDR5 memory. The clock frequencies amount to 1,050 MHz GPU (1,100 MHz boost) and 6,600 MHz GDDR5. That’s 50 MHz and 600 MHz respectively more than the Radeon HD 7970 Gigahertz Edition.

The power supply uses three 8-pin PCI Express connections, 20 phases and digital voltage control via Asus Digi + VRM. To dissipate heat, use a closed water cooling system with double 120 mm fans on the radiator and another 80 mm fan on the graphics card.
