Asus ROG Strix 750 Gold test, the mid-range is here! Config Board
| Specs | Price –

Hi all !

Asus entered the PC power supply market a very short time ago, with very high-end oriented models, the ROG Thor. These blocks clearly aren’t for everyone with a customizable OLED display and Seasonic Prime platform. But it is not with power supplies over 200 € that this will affect the greatest number, the ROG Strix are there for that! Available in two powers, 650 and 750 Watts, it is the latter that has passed through our hands. Offered at a recommended price of 155 €, it tackles the Seasonic Focus Gold and Corsair RMx head-on, let’s see what it has in its belly!

The Asus ROG Strix 750 Gold has everything you need for a mid-range model. First of all, the single 12 V rail provides 744 Watts, which is almost all of the power for which the unit is sold. Asus does not therefore fall into the ease of adding the powers of the other 3.3V and 5V rails to climb to 750 Watts. At the same time, this practice has almost disappeared, unless you type in the entry level. With an 80Plus Gold certification, the consumption at the outlet as well as the heat release of the block will be contained. We do not reach the level of an 80Plus Platinum or Titanium certification, but with an efficiency of 90% at 50% load, the ventilation should not have to work too much to cool the components.

The ventilator is entrusted to Everflow with its FB14025BH. There is no information available on this model other than that it is equipped with a double ball bearing. Lifespan should therefore not be a concern. In addition, hybrid ventilation is required, the fan only starts up from 40% load (or if a component reaches a temperature requiring active ventilation of course). A button is present to switch from hybrid mode to 100% active.
Offered at 155 € and guaranteed for ten years, the Asus ROG Strix G 750 has characteristics very close to the competing Focus Plus Gold and RMx but is more than 20 € more expensive.

Unpacking and bundle

The box reflects the design of Asus ROG Strix products that we have seen for quite a while now. A black background with a photo of the block, the ROG logo, the model name as well as the ten year warranty and the 80Plus Gold logo are present on the front side. At the rear, there is a list of the main strengths of the ROG Strix 750 Gold, the fan with “Axial-tech” design, high quality internal components (Japanese capacitors certified 105 ° C), customization via stickers and custom radiators.

Asus ROG Strix G 750 power supply inside the box

Hey, it’s strange, the interior looks like the Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 750 (see here), would Asus have gone to see the same manufacturer as its Thor for the ROG Strix 750 Gold? ? The mystery will soon be solved!

Power Supply Asus ROG Strix G 750 bundle

Asus took care of its bundle, with a few plastic and scratch cable ties, three small ROG stickers (to be put on the back of the unit), two magnetic plates and a logo to personalize the sides.
