ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 it's official: this is the top model, the star of the show of the new round of laptops of the Taiwanese manufacturer. More than a "gaming version" of the already known ZenBook Pro Duo, we can speak of aevolution, dedicated as much to gamers as to content creators.

The common feature with ZenBook Pro Duo is, of course, the second display, which sits above the keyboard. The panel remains the same – a 14.1 "IPS touch (3,140 x 1,100 pixels) – but this time tilts up to 13 ° towards the user, thanks to a sophisticated mechanism (no electronics) connected to the main screen hinge.

This solution also ensures optimal air flow to cool the hot spirits of the new 10th generation Intel Core "H" CPUs, and the equally new NVIDIA RTX SUPER GPUs – also aided by Liquid Metal's "thermally conductive paste". Thermal Grizzly and an even less noisy dissipation system. The promise is for a 30% increase in air flow, a reduction of operating temperatures up to 8 °, and a 2-3 dB decrease in noise (remember that the decibels are on a logarithmic scale; each pair of decibel roughly represents a "doubling" of perceived noise), remaining always below 46 dB in Turbo and 43 in Performance mode.

On this machine it is possible to mount the maximum exponents of the respective range, therefore thei9-10980HK, with 8 cores and 16 threads, and the RTX 2080 SUPER. As on the rest of the range, we have the proprietary GPU switch technology, which allows the coexistence of G-SYNC and Optimus, and panels up to 4K / 60 Hz (100% Adobe RGB) o FHD / 300 Hz (100% sRGB), all Pantone validated and individually calibrated at the factory. The former of course is ideal for content creators, the latter for hardcore gamers.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo offers two NVMe M.2 SSD slots, thanks to the elimination of the 2.5 "SATA SSD slot; drives up to 2 TB can be mounted, and RAID 0 configuration is supported to maximize performance. The maximum RAM amounts to 32 GB (DDR4 clocked at 3,200 MHz) The battery is 90 Wh, and ASUS promises an autonomy improvement of about 20-30% compared to the previous solution based on the ninth generation cores.

Among other things, as for all the new Zephyrus family, there is one Thunderbolt USB Type-C port with Power Delivery. This means that the laptop can be charged with any smartphone power supply and can in turn charge other devices and accessories. The complete list of doors includes:

• One USB 3.2 Gen 2 with TB 3, Power Delivery (max 65 W) and DP 1.4
• One HDMI 2.0a (max 4K / 60 Hz)
• Gigabit Ethernet

All this in a chassis whose thickness exceeds the 2 cm threshold by just 0.9 millimeters, and a weight of 2.4 kg – also thanks to the construction all in magnesium alloy and aluminum, which contains the weight and offers a good structural rigidity.

ASUS has worked hard on the software for its secondary display. In general, however, the idea is to allow the user to keep multiple things under control at the same time – for example, leaving the entire main display to their favorite video game. There are solutions for all tastes:

• Detailed monitoring of system resources, such as CPU and GPU usage, consumption, SSD and RAM activity, voltages and temperatures
• Management of controls dedicated to streaming with three independently configurable widgets
• Bundled is pre-installed theAndroid MEmu emulator, which can of course be relegated to the second screen; it is even possible to launch the mobile version of the same game running on the main screen. Or maybe those idle / clicker games that require only sporadic attention.
• Partnership with Overwolf: plugins and overlays for several popular titles such as LoL, Fortnite and CS: GO.
• Social management, chat

ASUS has also anticipated that it wants to work with video game developers to ensure deeper integration with the secondary display. For now the only confirmation is Dying Light 2, although we don't know more precise details.
