Australia has signed an agreement with gas exporters

MOSCOW, 29 Sep — PRIME. The Australian government has reached an agreement with three major gas exporters to avoid potential gas shortages next year, the Australian Department of Industry, Science and Resources said on its official website.

“This agreement will provide Australians with access to safe and reliable gas,” Australian Industry Minister Madeleine King said, adding that the deal was closed with Shell Plc, Conoco Phillips and Santos Ltd.

Under the terms of the agreement, domestic consumers are guaranteed not to pay more for gas to exporters than international ones, and will also receive priority in the order of sales – gas will be offered to them in the first place.

King noted that the new obligations of exporters will offset the shortfall in the domestic market in 2023.
