Austrian chancellor calls for a single EU decision on electricity tariffs

MOSCOW, August 28 – PRIME. Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer called on Sunday for a single European decision to limit electricity tariffs, the newspaper Kurier writes.

“We must finally stop this madness that is happening now in the energy markets. And this can only be done through a European decision,” said Nehammer, whose words are quoted by the publication.

The Austrian chancellor called on all EU countries to join forces to “immediately stop this price explosion.”

After the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, Western countries began to impose sanctions against the Russian Federation, in particular, on Russian energy resources. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy for the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy.
