Backup diesel generators ensure the operation of the Zaporozhye NPP
MOSCOW, 8 Oct — PRIME. Backup diesel generators are used to ensure the operation of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant after the failure of the power line, which provides for the facility’s own needs, due to shelling by Ukrainian rockets, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.
Zaporizhia NPP disconnected from the energy system of Ukraine
“To ensure the operation of the nuclear power plant, backup diesel generators are involved,” the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry also noted that repair work is now being completed to restore power supply to the nuclear power plant and the city of Energodar.
The radiation situation at the Zaporozhye NPP is normal, the Ministry of Defense emphasizes.
