The collapse of the Bitcoin price in mid-March has prompted many critics to argue that BTC is not a security asset. However, many cryptocurrency analysts have shown that, compared to gold and the S&P 500 stock index, Bitcoin cryptocurrency has retained its value.
Analyst Willy Woo posted a chart comparing the S&P 500, gold and Bitcoin performance over the past five years. This comparison shows that the recent decline in cryptocurrency is much less significant in this time frame. In fact, the US stock market has now returned to 2015 levels, while Bitcoin is exponentially more valuable.

Sylvain Saurel compared Bitcoin to the stock market and gold for the past twelve months. In its analysis, Bitcoin again proves to be by far the best investment choice. The stock market, represented by the Dow Jones and the S&P 500, has lost much of its value. Gold, the traditional safe haven, is up 25%. On the other hand, Bitcoin has grown by 35% over the last year.
