Last Thursday, pirates carried out two 51% attacks on the blockchain Bitcoin Gold and managed to double-spend 1900 BTG and 5267 BTG, the equivalent of around 80,000 euros.
Yesterday, on Twitter, the organization Bitcoin Gold announced that two attacks of 51% had been launched on its blockchain.
“Last week, January 23, there were two 51% attacks on the BTG blockchain. They managed to make deposits on exchanges. We don't know if they managed to get the funds out of the platforms. Advanced exchange risk control systems will likely fail one or both attacks, ” did she write.
The BTG organization said it collaborates with the relevant cryptocurrency exchange platforms.
This is the second time that the Bitcoin Gold blockchain undergoes this type of attack. In May 2018, more than 15 million euros in BTG had already been "double-spent".
Following the first attack, the Bitcoin Gold Organization announced working on a hard fork to make its blockchain more resistant to attacks by 51% and ASICs.
We have been working on a novel 51% / Double-Spend resistant decentralized consensus algorithm since last year. We plan to release it in 2020, Q1. 4/4
