Change SMS application on your cell phone

There are many third-party SMS apps that you can install on your Android to replace the default message app. There are several interesting alternatives such as Handcent, Textra or even instant messaging applications that incorporate this function and that of MMS, such as Messenger and the old one. Hangouts 2.0 where such a feature was introduced, (which currently no longer exists).

When using these applications, you will be asked permission to activate them by default (or activate the SMS function) and let her take care of receiving the text messages, leaving the original Android messaging application inactive. That means that this new app will show you the notifications of new messages, deactivating the notifications of the native Messages application. You will also have to check your messages in this new application, since you will not find them in the default one.

It is likely that after the app change you will not like some things, such as that you do not see the notification balloon on the icon, that you do not have the option to block SMS in the new APP or that the latter works slower than the app of factory. If this is your case and you want to use the SMS application that was by default on your cell phone again, you simply have to change the default APP. To do this there are at least three ways:

5. Select the default messaging app.

This is the process that is followed in my Huawei, however, the steps are more or less similar in Samsung and any other Android. In old versions such as Android 4.4, the option will surely be found in Settings, Wireless connections.

Disable SMS in the application

Another possible alternative is to check in the settings of the current message application. For example, if you are using Messenger, you just have to go to the settings, SMS and deactivate the option.

Clear defaults

The last way to use the factory messaging app again is to go to Android settings, Applications, Select current SMS app, Open by default, Clear defaults. Once this is done, open the messages application you want to use and when it asks you to activate it by default, do so.
