Coinbase cryptocurrency exchange is going to purchase Omni Rentals startup

According to preliminary information, the American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is going to acquire the startup Omni Rentals, which previously received investments from the fintech company Ripple.

As sources familiar with the situation told TechCrunch, the Omni Rentals startup, which provides services for the temporary use of various goods, is currently experiencing certain difficulties and is forced to massively reduce staff.

Meanwhile, Coinbase is interested in startup developers. It is assumed that they will become part of the Coinbase Earn division – a service that allows users to earn cryptocurrency for completing training programs on the exchange.

Despite the fact that Omni is already negotiating with Coinbase about a future deal, the exchange representative refused to officially confirm this information.

“At the moment, there is no significant information that could be talked about,” TechCrunch quoted him as saying that the Omni spokesman promised to provide more details, but then refused to speak on record.

At the beginning of last year, Omni received $ 25 million from Ripple and at the moment has significant assets, but startup leaders doubt the prospects of their own platform. In May, they sold the warehouse business to SoftBank-sponsored competitor Clutter.

Recall that the Coinbase Earn platform was launched in December last year. At the moment, residents of more than 100 countries can participate in the program.
