Today it is a Corsair power supply which goes through the mill with a model of the RM series which has just been created, I named the RM750 i ! The main objective of this series is silent operation, in addition to having a very low consumption thanks to the 80Plus Gold certification, available in 4 versions (650W, 750W, 850W and 1000W) it is the 750Watts version which will be the guinea pig of the day.
What do we have on the program? Operation of the hybrid fan (fan off below a certain temperature), fully modular, 100% Japanese certified 105 ° capacitors, possibility of switching to single / multi rail mode, a 7-year warranty as well as compatibility with the the Corsair Link brand (hence the i). The connectivity of the Corsair RM750i is undoubtedly very complete, in addition to the eternal 24-pin and 4 + 4-pin processor there are 4 PCIe 6 + 2-pin connectors as well as a plethora of Sata and Molex. As we can see Corsair equips its beast with a good package of Watts on the 12V, we expected no less! In single rail mode there are 750 Watts available (62.5A) while in multi rail mode we are entitled to 5 rails of 40A each. Quite honestly, if a multi rail power supply can have an interest on really heavy it is more than limited on a power supply like this, especially when we see a single 62.5A rail for 40A multi rails, but good anyway. way that won’t change how the beast works 😀

80Plus Gold certification as I said with a maximum efficiency of 92% at 50% load, this will clearly help the power supply to release the minimum heat and therefore the need for cooling will also be less, which is always good for the nuisances sound. The consumption

Before starting, let’s take a look at the performance of the power supplies compared to the Corsair RM750i, indeed the different 80Plus certifications will directly influence consumption, so this will be a good way to have concrete results. Only the S12 600 does not have an 80Plus certification because it did not yet exist at the time of purchase (but the following versions of this power supply had the classic 80Plus certification, so 80% / 80% / 80% to 20% respectively / 50% / 100% load).

As we can see the 80Plus Gold certification is clearly not usurped here, we are almost at the level of the 80Plus Platinum power supplies in the comparison! At rest the RM750i consumes 75 Watts while under load it goes up to a small 347 Watts, really very good for 80Plus Gold. As usual, the power supply is clearly not pushed to this last corner with the test setup, but it represents what is done in a high-end configuration designed for gaming today, so what 99% of users are likely to pull at the outlet.

Note that the consumption was recorded at the outlet for the complete configuration, under load for example and on the 347 Watts “drawn” to the socket the components only consume about 324 Watts of the 750 Watts available.

The tensions

No worries about voltage stability, the Corsair RM750i holds everything without flinching with a 3.3V which goes from 3.36V to 3.34V, the 5V from 5.1V to 5.05V and the 12V from 12.2V to 12.15V, as much to say that the beast is very stable, without arriving at the level of stability of the more high-end power supplies of the comparison (but the prices are of course not the same!).

For the moment, we are very good with the Corsair in today’s test, but the real sinews of war are in the level of noise pollution, indeed who would like a low-consuming power supply with excellent voltages but who is breaking your ears? Corsair sells the silent operation of its RM power supplies, hybrid ventilation, components chosen to have as little Coil Whine as possible, let’s see what that gives!

Corsair updates its RM platform by adjusting a few things here and there, the warranty goes from 5 years to 7 years, the operating temperature under maximum load goes from 40 to 50 °, we keep the hybrid ventilation mode of course and compatibility with Corsair Link software is added. The build quality is really very good, as usual we see that Corsair takes care of the aesthetics of its products, whether in terms of paint, materials used or look.
The performance thanks to the 80Plus Gold certification is excellent, the voltages are very stable and the RM750I will not be heard in the vast majority of gamer config thanks to the hybrid ventilation mode.

A quick word on the little extras of the new version of the RM series, the multi rail mode is ultimately only a very gadget and will not be useful in 99% of cases. Compatibility with the Corsair link software will allow you to have an eye on the behavior of the power supply, namely efficiency, fan speed, internal temperature and voltages, for those who already use the software it is a small more who can be sympathetic.

Offered at a price of around € 130, the RM750i from Corsair ultimately has a lot of assets for them without being overpriced, a power supply that will therefore be a very good choice for those who need a lot of Watts but cannot afford to take a very high end diet.
