Czech minister urges EU to speed up joint gas purchases

BRUSSELS, 12 Oct – PRIME. Next winter in the European Union may be “more critical” than the coming one, the EU should speed up joint purchases of gas, Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Josef Sikela said at a press conference after the Council of EU Energy Ministers in Prague.

The Czech Republic announced the desire of the EU countries to separate the prices for gas and electricity
The broadcast was conducted on the website of the European Commission.
“We want to speed up joint procurement … to ensure supply security for next winter, which could be even more critical than this one,” he said.
According to him, among the energy ministers of the states of the union there is a general agreement “on the need to move towards common gas purchases.”
