BRUSSELS, 10 Oct – PRIME. The European Union needs to move towards joint purchases of gas to replenish storage for the winter of 2023-2024, the European Commission (EC) will present its additional ideas in the coming weeks, Tim McPhee, spokesman for the EC, said at a briefing.
Germany proposes two-stage plan to cap gas prices, media reports
“What becomes more clear as we look at next winter, what was discussed on Friday (at the EU Heads of State Summit – ed.), is that we need to move more definitely towards launching joint procurement from the spring … so that we have reliable storage before the winter of 2023-2024… I think you will see more ideas about this in the coming weeks from the European Commission,” he said.
