EC wants to stress test energy infrastructure with EU

BRUSSELS, 10 Oct – PRIME. The European Commission (EC) intends to work with EU countries to test energy infrastructure in preparation for unexpected disruptions in its work, said the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen at a conference in Tallinn, which was broadcast on the website of the EC.

She noted that “acts of sabotage against the Nord Streams have shown how vulnerable the critical infrastructure” of the European Union is. “We need to protect our critical infrastructure,” she said.

“We need to stress test our infrastructure, identify weaknesses and prepare our response in case of unexpected outages… We will work with member countries (EU – ed.) to conduct these stress tests in the energy sector, as well as in others high-risk areas, for example … electricity infrastructure,” the head of the EC said.
