Edge browser ads appear when installing Windows 10

Microsoft is actively promoting its Chromium-powered Edge web browser. Over the past few years, the corporation has embedded ads for its browser not only in the Bing search engine, but also in the Windows Settings app. Recently, it became known that Edge ads will appear on the Windows 10 Start screen.

According to information published on the foreign portal Windows Latest, the developers are actively testing the innovation: after installing and initially configuring Windows 10 settings, users will see a large advertising window offering to use the Edge browser.

On the First Time Computer Setup (OOBE screen), the Use Recommended Browser Settings page appears, which allows you to set Microsoft Edge as your default browser, and optionally pin it to both the desktop and the taskbar. For those who do not wish to use Microsoft’s browser, the option “Do not update browser settings” is provided.

Despite the growing popularity of Edge, not every user knows that with the release of the Windows 10 October 2020 Update, Microsoft has completely abandoned the old web browser in favor of a new browser. Microsoft Edge is currently the second most popular browser in the world, behind Google Chrome.
