EU official believes gas ‘price cap’ talks will stall
MOSCOW, 8 Sep — PRIME. Talks between EU energy ministers over a gas price ceiling on September 9 could reach a dead end, an EU official who wished to remain anonymous told RIA Novosti.
EU countries will not support “gas price ceiling”, source said
At an extraordinary meeting on September 9, EU energy ministers will discuss which new measures would be preferable for a prompt response and mitigation of the situation with energy prices.
“Everything is on the table, but it is also possible that tomorrow there will be a stalemate, intensive negotiations are now underway with the capitals of the member countries that do not agree, in order to convince them. I think that the process of approving the price ceiling for Russian gas will be long and quite likely, that it will even be discussed during the EU summit in October,” the source said.
