EVGA aims for the target price with Geforce RTX 2080 Super KO and 2070 Super KO

The Nvidia Geforce RTX 2000 series and the Turing architecture were launched in the late summer of 2018 and meant that the level of performance was raised well above the Pascal-based family. However, with the higher performance also came price increases – to the great annoyance of many after a long period of expensive graphics cards due to miningboomen.

During the summer of 2019, Nvidia in a way implemented price reductions by releasing the Geforce RTX 2080 and 2070 in Super design, which replace the respective predecessors at the same target price. However, many third-party models of the cards are more expensive than recommended, while Nvidia’s Founders Edition is often out of stock. EVGA is now adding the mentioned cards to the KO series, where the target price is the target.

The reputable third-party manufacturer EVGA revived the KO series during CES 2020, by releasing the Geforce RTX 2060 KO. With this card, the manufacturer reduced the price to $ 300, which at the time was $ 50 below the target price. Shortly afterwards, however, Nvidia lowered the official price tag to the same level, and the trio in the KO series thus cost everyone in line with the graphics giant’s proposal.

For Geforce RTX 2080 Super KO, this means USD 700, which corresponds to approximately SEK 8,700 including VAT. The specifications match Nvidia’s Founders Edition, which means that the base and turbo frequencies are at 1,650 and 1,815 MHz, respectively, while the 8 GB of GDDR6 memory runs at 15,500 MHz. An HDMI 2.0b and three Displayport 1.4 are visible on the picture connection front.

The image connections are identical for the Geforce RTX 2070 Super KO and the cooling solution and appearance as well. The two cards occupy two expansion slots and are kept cool by means of double axial fans and a heat sink made of aluminum and heat pipes. The heat sink is surrounded by a cover in black, where a small marking indicates which graphics card it is. On the back of the cards is a cover plate and for the sake of the unusual, all forms of RGB shine with their absence.

The Geforce RTX 2070 Super KO is priced at USD 500, corresponding to around SEK 6,200, and even here the specifications are in line with the Founders Edition. Thus, the memory frequency applies to 14,000 MHz and the base and turbo modes of 1,605 and 1,770 MHz. The requirement for external power supply is the same for both RTX 2070 Super KO and RTX 2080 Super KO, which are equipped with 8 + 6-pin PCI Express.

The graphics cards can already be ordered through EVGA’s American online store, or alternatively through Amazon or Newegg. It is worth mentioning, however, that the own store entails a discount of 10 USD, while the prices at other sellers are 10 USD above the target price, with price tags 510 and 710 USD. It remains to be seen when the models will appear at Swedish retailers and where the price level will end up.
