EVGA releases Geforce GTX 980 Hybrid with closed water cooling

In anticipation of AMD’s major counterattack to Geforce Maxwell, manufacturers are taking the opportunity to broaden the range with more models based on existing graphics processors. One of these is EVGA, whose latest creation will charm enthusiasts and overclockers with high-performance hybrid cooling. The promise is up to 25 degrees lower temperatures than the reference design.

The new graphics card is called EVGA Geforce GTX 980 Hybrid and is based just as usual on the GM204 with 2,048 CUDA cores and 4 GB of GDDR5 memory on a 256-bit memory bus. The clock frequencies are tuned to 1,290 and 1,339 MHz at base respective boost while the memory remains at the 7,010 MHz of the reference design.

The big highlight is that the graphics card is cooled by a closed water cooling system and also gets traction assistance from an extra radial fan. This includes a radiator in the 120 mm class with an associated fan, the speed of which is automatically regulated according to the heat development.

The EVGA Geforce GTX 980 Hybrid comes with the overclocking tool Precision X and the stress test OC Scanner X. The recommended approximate price is 679 dollars or the equivalent of approximately 7,200 kronor. The closed water cooling system fits the reference model of the Geforce GTX 980 and can also be purchased separately for 99 dollars or 1,050 kronor including VAT.
