Finance Ministry proposes to raise income tax for LNG exporters

MOSCOW, 28 Sep — PRIME. The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation proposes to increase the income tax for exporters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in 2023-2025 to 32%, additional income in 2023 is estimated at 200 billion rubles, according to the draft federal law on amendments to the tax code.

“For organizations that, in the reporting (tax) period, produce natural gas in a liquefied state from natural gas in a gaseous state and sell it for export and which have been issued a license to exercise the exclusive right to export gas … for the period from January 1, 2023 to 31 December 2025 inclusive, the tax rate is set at 32%,” the bill says.

“When implementing the measures… expected… additional federal budget revenues from the income tax of organizations producing liquefied natural gas in the amount of 200 billion rubles in 2023,” the document also says.
